Deacon's Hope was founded on Oct. 29, 2005 by Donna Smith and Family. It was inspired by their German
Shepherd Deacon. Deacon was a part of their family for almost 17 years! Deacon's Hope is in dedication
to him. In honor of him, Deacon's Hope will save as many lives as possible, vet them and place in the best
possible homes! We cannot, and will not, turn our backs on any breed in need!
Donna, our President, has taken a hiatus but has the reins over to our Vice President, Gayle Schmidt
and Jenna Schmidt, one of our SUPER foster moms. Gayle and Jenna are working hard to help save the
lives of the many that have been left behind in local shelters!
DHR is an all volunteer program. We DO NOT have a shelter. All DHR animals are fostered in homes with
one of our volunteer foster families. Please look at our fosters. Some of them have been in rescue way
too long and would really love to have a family of their own.
We are in desperate need of foster families. If you would like to foster, please email Gayle or Jenna. Even if it is only one dog at a time, it is one more dog that wouldn't be saved without your help.
We have a 100% spay/neuter policy. No animals leave our foster families until they have been spayed or neutered.
